Indian millionaire Datta Phuge, a 32-year-old moneylender from the Pimpri-Chinchwad city of Pune for whom gold is the ultimate passion, commissioned the world’s most expensive shirt which is regarded to be an embellishment to his reputation as the ‘Gold Man of Pimpri’. Highly elated to wear his shiny dream shirt, Mr. Datta Phuge who inherited a fair amount of gold and wants to leave behind a sufficient amount for the next-generation, spent a whopping $235,000 on this custom-made shirt as an investment which will keep appreciating. Crafted out of 3.5kg of 22-carat solid gold, this bling shirt created by Pune-based Ranka Jewelers boasts of 14,000 gold flowerings that have been interwoven with 100,000 spangles sewn into a base of finest white velvet, along with 6 Swarovski Crystal buttons. Notably, 15 goldsmiths labored over 15 days at the rate of 18-hours a day to create this opulent shirt with an armor-like appearance
