The DGJG has also launched a commemorative Expo 2020 Host City Dubai Gold coin for the 2014 DSF to celebrate the city’s successful bid to host World Expo 2020. The mega gold promotion will run during the DSF 2014 which will start from January 2 to February 2, 2014.
The special edition Expo 2020 gold coin was unveiled by Laila Mohammed Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of DFRE in the presence of Sunny Chittilappilly, Chairman of DGJG, Saeed Mohammed Mesam Al Falasi, Director, Strategic Alliances Division, DFRE.
During the promotion, DSF shoppers have a chance to win a kilogram of gold and a diamond solitaire ring every day across the 32 days of DSF. Shoppers can also celebrate Dubai’s winning bid for Expo 2020 and enter the raffle by purchasing the special coin symbolising the city’s historic win. Last year, DGJG launched a gold coin which carried the Expo 2020 Candidate City message and now millions of tourists will be offered Expo 2020 Host City gold coin as a souvenir.
Over 300 jewellery retail outlets across Dubai will participate in the campaign, one of the mega raffles of DSF 2014. During the past 18 years of DSF, the DGJG has given away over 700kg of gold in prizes.
“Gold trade has been a cornerstone of Dubai’s retail sector. As DSF 2014 is the first major event since the successful Expo 2020 bid, this initiative by the DGJG to offer specially minted Expo 2020 Host City gold coin is another sign of the strong collaboration between the government and private sector.
